Hi,
I've been planning to get an Inspiron 1520. But, I happened to notice the Vostro 1500 with what appeared to be the same spec for a much lower price.
So basically my question is, why? What's the difference, I'm sure I'm missing something.
Thanks in advance
(This is ordering from the UK Dell site btw)

Apparently in the UK the vostros are simply much cheaper than the identically configured Inspirons. I dont know why this is.
In the States, there are ubiquitous coupons for the Inspiron which make it generally about the same price as the vostro or even cheaper for most medium and high end configurations. For the lowest end stuff the Vostro is still cheaper over here.
I think in the UK I would go with the vostro. -
Thanks for the quick reply. Can it be that I'm not going mad lol. I thought I was after looking at the price =)

Well, according to me they are both almost exactly the same except maybe for some minor cosmetic differences, other than that i would say the accessories and other stuff in the bundles maybe a bit different( meaning some stuff may not be included by default in the vostro package)
I suggest you this thread out though http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=141874 -
I believe they are basically the same machine hardware wise but I think you are missing some of the bells and whistles in the Vostro such as the colored cases. Somewhere on this board someone did a detailed breakdown on the 2. One plus for the Vostro (besides the cool sounding name) is the fact that you can order it with XP on it instead of Vista. The 1520 is Vista only.
