Just out of interest, how long have you UK owners had to wait from the date of purchase to the time its been delivered to you? I was thinking, I may still go for the 1520 however if delievery time is going to take more than 2 - 3 weeks, I'll probably stick with getting my original laptop.

If US owners could sort of predict and answer to my question to, that'll be great as well.

Depending on your specs some US owners on this forum have gotten their notebooks in 5-6 business days. IDK how quick the parcel services are in the UK, but if your notebook isnt too difficult to make, i.e blue/webcam/wxsga+ then you should be fine.

However it's literally a gambal since when I placed my order for the 1420 on the 28th there was a shortage for the LCD, and apparently mine went into boxing about 13 hours ago. Hopefully it ships tomorrow. But asides from that, if you read up in the CS section of the Dell Forums some people reported getting theirs in a week tops.

Remember, notebooks are put out from Malaysia and Ireland, depending on whats closer to your destination, so I would assume limerick would be pushing out your notebook.

It was Malaysia for me since its closer to the Dell plant in Texas (or atleast I'm pretty sure its Malaysia).

I'm in the UK and ordered my Midnight Blue 1520 on 19th July. Was originally due on 7th August but is now estimated at 31st August. In fairness to Dell they've called me every 4-5 days to update progress (or not!), although they did tell me last Thursday that it was going to be delivered this Tuesday (then on Friday the EDD changed to 28th August).

I think it's because I had to chase up the finance as they hadn't received the documents I faxed and emailed several times. I actually ordered a week before the 19th but it took them this long to confirm they had the documents (this happened a couple of years ago when I ordered my desktop PC too, when I ended up having to reorder as they lost the order as well as the finance documentation). This seems to have put me on their courtesy call list, although the reps don't have any information really. I had a call last Thursday saying the laptop was delayed until 11th September, and when I finished speaking to him he called me back about 30 seconds later saying he had the wrong information and it was actually going out on time (!). He then rang me on Monday to tell me about the delay until 28th August, which has today changed on their order status to 31st August.

I am in the US (New York). I ordered an inspiron 1520 on July 9. The original ship date was July 30. They moved it to August 6 on July 30. On August 6th I got a message on my cell phone that delivery was moved to August 28 and if I did not call them back on an 800 number, they would cancel the order. I am on vacation this week and have literally sat on the phone for nearly 4 hours (I had to hang up yesterday after 2) waiting for a rep. They give you no information as to how long the wait is while on hold. Dell's customer service is AWFUL!

Just checked the order status page and it now says that the notebook is in Production (although the date next to it is August 3rd, which is the same date that was placed against it for pre-production). Perhaps things are starting to move along....
