I have an Inspiron 1520, and when I plug my charger in the back, it comes out really easily. It's not like it's loose in the socket or anything, but after it plugs in even just a small movement or jostle seems to unplug the charger. Has anyone else had this problem, or is there anything I can do to tighten it up? Thanks!

I have it on my vostro 1500 too... dunno why, but it is certainly a pain in the butt when it happens and I don't notice it until the battery is drained. I guess you could wrap the connector with some foil or something that conducts... but since I primarily leave mine on the desk I just try to keep an eye on it. I also have it set to the lowest brightness while on battery so I can tell as soon as it happens. if I'm not in front of it at least the battery will last longer and hopefully I'll catch it before it turns itself off.

It certainly is a pain in the butt, I just wondered if there was something I could tighten on the computer itself to fix it or something. I'm afraid to have a service tech come to fix it, because it might just make the problem worse.

The charger plug for my M1530 slides in very easily. This may actually not be a bad thing. Apple designed its Magsafe connector to allow the power adapter plug to disconnect if someone tripped on the cord. The loose Dell plug would probably do the same.

The weird thing is though, is that this is my second 1520. My first had to be sent in and replaced, and its charger plug definitely was not nearly as loose as this one. I just don't know what to do.

The only fix is a new motherboard...or a new laptop. Call up dell if it is really a problem to you and see what they are willing to do for you.

The problem is dell refuses to make the charges an l shape meaning the part that plugs into the laptop is an l so that the cord isnt sticking straight out. My acer has this and its much better at staying in and not breaking the adapter part off the laptop.
