I purchased a new Inspiron 1505 directly from Dell 6 months ago and have had nothing but problems with it. Not major problems, but I had to call tech support a few times each month for something or another.

This last time was the last straw and I demanded a replacement computer. They said they would send me a replacement, but it would be a refurbished system. I tried to get them to replace it with a new system as I purchased a new system and not a refurbished one, but they said all replacements are refurbished.

I have the extended 4 year warranty if that matters in this situation.

1.) Is there any way to get them to replace this with a new laptop instead of a refurbished one?

2.) They are also going to replace it with a Dell 1520 which I've heard has been having problems. Should I push for them send me a different model instead of the 1520? If so, which model should I push for?

3.) I really want to add an integrated web cam and upgrade the memory, but they said they wouldn't allow any changes (even upgrades that I'm more then willing to pay for). Does this sound right? Is there any way I can get them to allow me to PAY for upgrades?

Thank sin advance for any help !!!

    1) after 30 days they will replace systems with a new OR refubished system at their discretion (thats what it will say in the T&C of your warranty, so you dont have a leg to stand on).

    2) You might be able to ask if they will let you pick a different one that is of equivilent price, but by law (well UK law at least) they dont have to!

    3) Same as above. You can ask (best to speak to a manager for these things), but if they say no, then you cant do anything!
