Two questions about a Dell 15 3521 Laptop running Windows 8:

1 - How do you set the Bios to boot the computer from the CD/DVD drive...? There is no CD/DVD option, only garbage like "Legacy Boot" or "UEF1 Boot".... I have also tried using the F12 key at startup, see the attachment to see what displays....

2 - There was no information on how to build a system restore disk that came with this computer.... So how is that accomplished...?

    Thanks...!

    Hi Doobiedog,

Please follow the steps provided below to change the BIOS settings in order to boot from other devices:

    1. Restart the computer and tap F2 on Dell logo.
    2. Under "BOOT" Option, ensure "Boot" list option is set to “Legacy”.
    3. Now scroll down to change the Boot priority.
    4. Press F10 to “Save” the settings and Exit.

You will need to use the Dell Backup and Recovery software to create the restore disks. Click on the Tile and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Hi

I'm new to this forum but I'm also having problems booting from CD on the same laptop running windows 8. My prolem is I can get as far as step 2 OK but having set the 'boot list option' to 'Legacy', there is no 'boot priority' option for me to change. Can anyone throw any more light on this please? Fairly detailed instructions would be really helpful as I'm in new teritory messing around with the BIOS.

    Thanks
