    Hello,

I am looking into replacing my old Dell Inspiron 6400, as it has been excellent -I think I should buy another Dell!

I am looking at the new Inspiron 15, which has a 15.6" display.

Can anyone tell me whether the actual laptop itself is bigger or smaller than my current 6400? I am interested in knowing width.

I see a lot of dead space on my 6400, and hopefully Dell realized this, and instead of making another 15.4" with dead space, they made use of this and gave a better display!

If anyone had pictures - I would be extremely grateful.

    Many Thanks.

a 15.6" display is 16:9, whereas a 15.4" is 16:10. This means that a `.56 display will be a bit wider, but will also be a bit shorter.

Thank you for your reply, I am mainly concerned about the actual width of the laptop in comparison to mine now. I am geussing that it will be slightly bigger, but I am not sure.

The 1535 is still using a 16:10 aspect ratio? If you configure one on the Dell site it gives you the standard WXGA, WSXGA+, WUXGA options? Or are you talking about the 1555 which actually does have a 16:9 aspect ratio?

    1555:

Height: 0.996 in to 1.23 in
    Width: 14.63 in
    Depth: 9.96 in

    E1505:

    Height: 1.42 inches
    Width: 14.02 inches
    Depth: 10.45 inches

So yeah, the 1555 is a bit wider, a bit shallower, and a bit thinner than the E1505. I don't know if anyone has pictures yet, but there's a thread floating around with more information.

Or are you talking about the 1545?

    1545:

Height: 1.02 in to 1.47 in
    Width: 14.7 in
    Depth: 9.6 in

Thank you - it is only slightly bigger. That is impressive! Does anyone have any pictures?
