Currently I am using 4GB of RAMs. Thinking of upgrading it to 8GB.

Can the laptop handle it? Anybody experience Dell Inspiron 1420 with 8GB of RAMs?

    thank you

The chipset supports up to 8GB. Dell's BIOS implementation may not. I know some people with 1720s have gotten up to 6GB, but I don't know about 8. I'd guess your mileage on the 1420 would be about the same?

yes, I google. Someone has the 1420 and it only supports up to 6gb. I think I'm gonna stick with 4gb as of now.

    thanks

It will only support up to 6GB of RAM as of the same with the 1520 and 1720 models. It's a BIOS limitation unfortunately.
