    Recently, I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron 1420 as it's often freeze and auto shut down or restart. When it freezes, my screen will appear many small black pixels which are scattered around the desktop.

    During the restart process, the system will require me to choose one of the few options available (eg. Start Windows Normally) as it stated there that the laptop was not shut down properly. :confused:

    Remarks: My Dell Inspiron 1420 is equipped with NVidea 8400M GS.

    Sounds like you may be over heating. Have you checked your temperatures?

    What temperature should a Dell 1420 bet at?

    Erm ... now I'm thinking of the temperature's limit of the BIOS. Could it be possible that the BIOS temperature's limit (default temperature's limit) is very low as this problem started to show after I have flashed my BIOS?

    It could be but before undoing the flash and reinstalling your previous bios version check your temperatures to see how hot your notebook is actually getting and post back here.

    After I have scanned my notebook with CPUID Hardware Monitor, I get the following result:

    (i) ACPI:

    Value = 58
    Min = 57
    Max = 68

    (ii) CPU:

    Core #0
    Value = 51
    Min = 51
    Max = 59

    Core #1
    Value = 48
    Min = 48
    Max = 54

    (iii) GPU

    Value = 54
    Min = 53
    Max = 56

    (iv) HDD

    Value = 35
    Min = 35
    Max = 36

    Remarks: I only use my notebook for internet surfing and some office works.

    Try opening up hw monitor then gaming or running some benchmarks to see how load temperature are.

    There is no way to check the temperature limit in the BIOS your only bet is to try it.
