Dell Inspiron 13z change wireless card?

The wireless card in 13z is very bad, always disconnects. Its the Dell Wireless 1703 card.

I want to upgrade the card to Intel 6200, does someone know if that card will work in this laptop perfectly?

Please let me know so I can buy it

    Thank you

A 6200 should work fine: make sure you get a Dell-branded or generic card; sometimes the Lenovo or HP ones don't work properly outside of Lenovo/HP machines. Also make sure you get the appropriate half-height or full-height card.

Not sure what you mean about half or full height, arent all the laptop wifi cards "small" size?

How do I find out if I need full or half size for this 13z laptop?

    Hi awaisuk,

As suggested by Commander Wolf, it is important to know the size of the card. The Inspiron 13z is designed with the half mini wireless cards. The Intel 6200 Wireless-N Half Mini-Cards should be compatible with this System.

For the existing 1703 card, you may try the following steps to improve its performance.

    • Please open Device Manger.
    • Right Click on the Wireless card Driver.
    • Select Properties..
    • Under the Power Management tab, remove the check mark for “Allow the Computer to turn off this Device to save power”.
    • Change the Advanced card properties - Change Roaming Aggressiveness option,
    • Change the wireless channels in the ‘Advanced’ card properties to 11 or 6 and Disable Bluetooth Collaboration.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks & Regards
