    Hi all

I need to replace the battery on my Inspiron 1300, I checked on Dells website and foundthat the replacement they suggest is 11.1 volt whewre as mine is 14.8 volt with the number HD438.

I can see dozens of batteries listed all over the web as a replacement for the HD438 at 11.1 volts but is it really compatible with may laptop?

If it says it's compatible, it probably is. If it's from Dell, all the better. Usually batteries of different capacities will have slightly different rated voltages. Just make sure you get a genuine Dell battery; don't pick up some cheap fake on eBay.
