Any 1300 owners here? Somewhere i came across some hot keys to get immediate responses...don't remember where. One of the keys was I believe Fn and F3. That would bring up the status of ones batteries. But lately now it does not work. Do i have the right keys...anyone?

Some of the FN short cut keys require Dell's Quickset installed and running to work. I know this is a common occurrence in all of the inspiron systems, and I've had the exact same problem.

You can download quickset from Dell's support site under Drivers and Downloads at support.dell.com

Hi, my daughter is a working student and needs a laptop. She is thinking the Dell Inspiron 1300 as it is affordable. Can anyone generally review this for me so I can pass it on to her?

    Thanks much.

My wife just purchased an Inspiron 1300 and I guess I was not very impressed. I purchased last year an Inspiron 2200, which is an amazing machine, much faster than the 1300.

I guess Dell figured out why would anyone buy their Inspiron 6000, when the 2200 was so good, so they retired both the 2200 and the 1100, replacing them with the 1300 and B120 - Both machines that are much inferior to the former models. Actually the B120 is pretty useless and the 1300 seems to be a slightly improved 1100.

Nevertheless, for a student, the 1300 is just fine and it does come with a 15.4" widescreen, which should be great for viewing movies. Furthermore, for $700 (Canadian), this is an unbeatable deal.
