I was just wondering if anyone had bought or used the new Dell Inspiron 11z?
Now available in the UK, seems nicely specced and thinking about buying one as a more powerful alternative to a netbook.

    I've just got one.
Anything specific you want to know?

Certainly a lot more potent than an atom, battery life so far is excellent for web browsing over wireless, used for 3 hours or so and it had about 50% charge left.

Don't like the annoying bright blue light on the charging cord.

The battery sticks out *miles*, about 1.5cm extra. This functions well on a desk as tilt to the keyboard but not so good on your lap.

boots pretty snappy with vista but hoping it's a lot better once windows 7 goes on there.

Definitely disable the crapware on there though, kills startup.

Really was just wondering how powerful it is and does it seem big with being an 11 odd inch screen?

The 6 cell battery you get (at least I got) from the carphone warehouse deal makes it quite a bit more chunky, not in footprint but in depth (which is a bit annoying).

Apart from that it's a sweet size for me, near full size keyboard, not wasting much bezel space, trackpad *size*(1) is acceptable.

    1. the pad itself isn't great in many ways though :(
