    Hello,

I am looking to purchase this notebook b/c of its affordable price but I do have a few questions because I have not been able to actually see the inspiron 1150 in person. i have tried to read as many reviews on this computer as possible but still need more assurances b/c this computer cannot be returned without having to pay the restocking fee. The questions that I have is for those who own or have used used the 1150 can tell me the quality of the 15 inch xga screen b/c i do use a computer for long periods of time and want to know if the screen has a good crisp image as well as good refresh rate. Secondly, I am a little confused on the gripes regarding the integrated graphics card found on this notebook. Is the integrated graphics card included with this notebook decent for dvd playback, displaying digital pictures and using photoshop? last question is regarding overheating problems. i know people have mentioned issues with heat in regards to the 5150 and i wanted to ask if people noticed any similar complaints with the 1150. sorry for writing too much but i need to know b/c this is a huge purchase for me based on my student budget and i know you guys on this forum are very knowledgeable. I would appreciate a prompt response as i plan to make the purchase in the next few days to get the deal.

the integrated graphics card will not affect such things as DVD playback performance so you are fine on that issue (it'll work for editing images and all that good stuff too). an integrated graphics card is bad when it comes to applications, such as 3D games, that need to render polygons very fast.

I never used the Inspiron 1150, but did use the Inspiron 1100 and was pleased with the screen -- it is certainly bright enough and there was no refresh noticeable to the human eye. it's a good buy in my opinion.

My friend was also looking at this laptop, and I have a quick question regarding the CPU. If this laptop was used for basic internet need and word processing, would a celeron processor be able to handle just those simple needs since I get nothing but so much bad reviews on celeron processor. Also, I was wondering what the battery life is for this laptop, with either the celeron or pentium processor. Thanx in advance.

Celeron is okay for basic needs, and should run internet and word processing without problems.

For both the Celeron and Pentium desktop chips used in these laptops, you are going to get around 2 hours of battery life.

    Hope that helps.
