I am trying to install a usb device to my friends Dell 1100 and it wont show up no matter what I do. When opening the device manager it is blank. Nothing shows up no matter what I do. Is there a trick on a Dell?

No, there's no trick. My 1100 has never had problems recognizing USB devices. What device are you trying to install? Does it work on other computers?

Perhaps it's time to reformat that computer, or use the XP install disk and perform a repair?
