My computer has started doing a clicking noise. It isn't all the time but comes and goes and if very loud. I have it sitting on a fan to keep it from overheating but that isn't helping the clicking noise which seems to get worse while surfing the net or things that require it to work harder. Why does it do this and is there a way to fix it?

it is your hard drive which is causing the noise, hard drives tend to make noises.

I have never had a hard drive clicking on me unless its breaking or having an issue with the heads parking/unloading constantly (witch will cause it to break much sooner) I have had fans make click noises when the bearings get worn out or have too much dust and things in them.
My larger desktop drives have normal loading noises that can sometimes be audible but its a far cry from a loud clicking noise and all my notebooks are silent, even the G50V with dual hard drives in Raid 0 so they are both in use constantly.
X2P you should have him run some tests before assuming its something like that, I think its a false assumption.
There are tons of diagnostics tools out there.
