Sorry for this thread if its redundant. I haven't followed Inspiron's or their model #s since Ive never owned one and Im quite confused. I don't know which model # is what but Im buying this for my mom. She is in real estate. Its the base model Inspiron 15r. Would that be a 1564??

Anyway with a few coupons and deals I got it down to $539 before tax w/ free shipping.. Is this a good deal? is this even a good laptop? Thanks for any help.

The model number for that 15R is N5010, I own the same laptop it's great! THe 1564 is the previous inspiron model, has the i3-330m instead of the i3-350 and also only wireless g unless upgraded. 15R is N wireless in base form

I really like the Inspiron 15R. We had a Studio 1558 previously and the fan on the thing was most annoying in the way it would rev up frequently. The new 15R does not suffer from this and when the fan is on it is very quiet. Laptop is nicely designed, smart looking and the performance for the price just can't be beat. In normal use the laptop stays quite cool. No complaints at all. Your price seems fine too.

thanks for the info darkmage, appreciate you sharing. My mom should be pleased. I told her to go try out the floor model at best buy to see if she liked it. She called me back and informed me of the numberpad, I couldn't believe it! She said she like the way it felt. I am going to pull the trigger tomorrow morning. Thanks again.

Your price is excellent! I love this machine. Upgraded from a 3 yr old Vaio, 1GB Ram, 160GB HDD. This thing is pretty fast, and has a very nice design to it.
