I have an Inspiron 600M with a dead screen. The usual inexpensive fixes didn't cure it. I have two questions.

1.) Is there a way to bypass the failed laptop screen and hook it up to another monitor? What cables, hardware, etc. do I need, and what ports should I use in both the laptop and the monitor to effect the bypass?

2.) What is the best way to transfer the Dell data over to an Apple computer once I can see the Dell screen? My main goal is to transfer about 2000 songs from the Dell to the Apple. Thanks, Peter

    1) Just hook it up to an external display and let it boot. Once it gets into Windows (or really, just past BIOS) use Fn + F8 to push the output to the external display.

    2) You don't even need to boot the machine for this. Just get a 2.5" IDE to USB adapter and copy your music directly off of the drive.
