My Dell inspirion 600m is dead. Batter is fully charged but the system wont power on and the power light wont go green either. If I connect the AC adapter, the AC adapters LED dies.

I connected the battery and AC adapter to another dell laptop and both seems to be working fine.

I know there is something gravely wrong. Is there a way to check what must have gone bad, I hope its not the hard drive ?.

I have some data that I want to recover in case the Laptop is fried. Can the laptop harddrive be added as a slave drive to a desktop or laptop?

    Please advise

Chances are that the motherboard is dead. You can pull the drive and put it on another computer no problem...I suggest you use a USB enclosure though.
