    Hi.

I received my AMD A6 Inspirion 5110-1115 , when i removed the cover on the bottom of the notebook all i could see was memory slots, where is the hdd?

So i found this video on youtube of a guy removing the keyboard and parm rest of his dell and you can see and replace the hdd, looks easy.

So i opened mine up, looks like dell has been saving on screws, lots less than are shown in the video, mine must be an newer model.

So where is the hdd, it`s not in the same place, the dirty **** have put it under the motherboard, it took me an hour to remove all the screw and the screen to remove the motherboard, and it all worked after i put it back together :D

Anyway a few pictures of the motherboard and such.

This is an AMD A6 notebook

The photo`s are from an 16mb camera untouched.

    John.

I was all set to put in a momentus xt hybrid and just found this out this is the worst design I have ever seen for a laptop and will be the last Dell I ever buy!

Yeah, it's pretty stupid, but hardly the worst design ever. Have you seen the new MacBooks? Glued in batteries, soldered in ram modules, and soldered in hard drive. You can't upgrade anything even you wanted to.

Nevertheless, if you're going to put the hard drive underneath the motherboard, I don't see why they couldn't have designed in a door on the bottom of the case for it.

So you have to dismantle the machine just to get to the probably the single most frequently changed component. Crazy. I wouldn't want to have to pay for the labour charge!

On my admittedly ancient Inspiron, there is just one screw to undo and the caddy slides out.
