I bought a Dell 1520, it seems to have the Intel Gm965 chipset, so i am assuming it has the Intel MB. Is this board capable of accepting the 8600m Gt or will I have to swap boards?

    Thanks,

Nevermind I figured it out. THey make 2 different types of 1520's wish I would have known this first. One with a discreet Card and one with a integrated chip. So Id have to swap MB if i wanted to run the 8600M.

    Thanks!

Yes, you will need to replace the entire motherboard. The Inspiron 1520 had a removable Dell proprietary MXM module. Where that connector is, on the Intel GPU board is where the IGP is located. Honestly unless you can get the motherboard for dirt cheap, you'll still need to purchase the GPU (I got my Vostro 1500 the same laptop as the Inspiron 1520, the 8600M GT was only 40 bucks). Hope this helps.
