Hi guys,
Not sure if this is the right subforum for this, but here goes:
I've got a Dell Inspirion 1501 that's a little over a year old. Never any complaints. This morning, I plugged the adapter in and kept hearing this humming sound. It took me a little while to figure out it was the adapter making the noise. I'd never noticed it before, so I'm guessing it's not supposed to do that. What do you think? Is the adapter on its way out? Did it just get too hot? (It does get really warm at times.) Is some part of it fried, like just the wall plug (that looks like it's sparked once or twice...) Or is it perfectly ok?
I'm hoping it's fine.. but don't really want to risk frying my laptop!
Thanks in advance for responding.

I would be worried about it. When I had my thinkpad I had an adapter that made the noise. IBM replaced it for me without asking what happened to it.

So I need a new one? I don't think Dell will replace it for me; I didn't spring for the extra warranty and so Dell won't even do the online support chat thing for me. I could always send an e-mail though.

It might be perfectly fine, just loud. But they usually dont make that noise
