Hey all, I recently went into my bios settings and set my HDD to "Performance" mode..now I didnt really notice any major performance increases, did anyone else?

Btw, Im on an i9400 1.83 Ghz Duo, 100gig HD 5400 RPM.

Same here. But at the end of the day the performance increase is probably in the range of milli seconds in terms of seek time. You would not be able to percieve any difference.
I saw on another thread that a few people were getting better scores in SuperPi when they send the Hard Drive to "performance". I tried it but my scores remained the exact same.

The one thing you might notice is an increase in HDD noise. If you don't, and if you don't notice a large battery life drop, then using performance can't have any harm.

Supposedly if you are in performance mode, your HDD is suppose to be louder and run faster, but like the others said, this might only create a small difference in the performance area.

It could also be that since the 5400rpm are at lower speeds, then you might not notice a difference. I would think that you are more likely to notice a difference in performance mode and quiet mode on the 7200rpm drives more than you would with the 5400rpm.
