Well I am too agitated for this crap from dell.

    Long story short

    Inspiron 1520, Blue
    Order date :- 07/16/2007.
    ESD :- 07/30
    ESD 1:- 08/06
    ESD 2:- 08/28

Finally I hear today morning from the automated system that my order is in Boxing stage, I was thinking finally its going to come. Then in the evening i check my order status I see that my order has been canceled, why ? cuz of the federal mail order thing. This is despite me calling up the reps numerous times and letting them know not to cancel my order. Also replying to a email accepting the compensation they were offering.

I can't call the sales dept as they are closed, This sucks big time esp the HIGH and LOW of today. Does anyone know what to do ? Can they re-instate my order ? or what should I do ?

I opened using dell financing and they even made a credit inquiry on my history thus affecting my credit score. F***ing sucks.

    The federal mail order thing?

They will not be able to reinstate the order, another one will have to be placed and yes you will be back to the end of the line.

    Sorry...

But at this point, I'd re-evaluate your purchasing decision as you now have a 2nd chance. If you still want the Dell, that's great...but if you change your mind the lemonade of the story is that you can now do so.

I was sure to call Dell, and let them know that I was giving consent, even before they asked. I was almost ready to cancel my order anyway (before I found out my status was "boxing"), but that was a decision "I" was going to make. Not Dell.

If they end up canceling my order anyway, I will not order again from them, as the CSR assured me that my order would not be canceled.

Good luck in whatever you decide newuser_07.

Wow, that is tough man... Honestly, I'd call up tell and let your anger out on them and then tell them you're going to another company and that you'll never buy another of their products again... If they did that to me, I'd make sure that they would feel it for years to come (I'm a budding IT guy)....

While they rather have your business, the CSR does not personally care if you buy from them in the future or not. He/she is not a "big picture" person. He/she just cares about getting through the shift, and getting a paycheck.

Very true... Most people could care less while working whether their company makes a profit. All they care is that their boss thinks they do and that they'll get their paycheck. :-0 But still it isn't right, and I think that Dell is really really hurting themselves.

    Ok to update my case.

I was on phone with dell people for about 2 hrs, spoke with 3 different people of whom one couldnt understand what I was saying, One was a rude female shouting into the phone and one was a real helpfull one.

They "managed" to reinstate my order with a new shipping date of 10/01.

The reasons I got was "federal mail order issue", "dont know why it was cancelled" and "the order has been too old and the system is not being produced".

I was also upgraded to (non working upgrade) next business days shipping and put on their "PRIORITY LIST" ( which I think everyone is on).

When my previous order was cancelled I also lost a $ 75 coupon and another rep promised to call and compensate me once i received my order. I asked for a coupon on this new order which they said I will have to call back in like 2 days to know whats going on.

So after ordering on 7/16 and waiting for 40 odd days i am back to square one and looking at a wait time of 30 odd days. All this happened inspite of having called up dell and told them not to cancel and having 3 case number from 3 reps all "monitoring" my order closely.

A more disturbing thing is on the day it was cancelled my laptop was in boxing stage so technically i would have had it in my hands now.

I am seriously looking at other options now, including mac book pro. If I find something reasonably good then I will drop Dell like POS they are.
