    Try the O2Micro driver.

where do i get that? and heres something to note, when i install the recoh drivers it installs my card bays (sd,ms,xd) but not firewire. and another thing is that the removable drive icons dont display in my computer either. but they do when i connect an external card reader.

Sorry, there's no O2Micro for 9400. I think there is no 'Dell' firewire driver for 9400. I guess it uses the windows drivers. Is there a way to install XP's firewire driver on your OS?

Firewire driver should be included/built-in the chipset driver.
I didn't install any specific firewire driver but it's working without any problem.
I also didn't install ricoh driver after my second reformat because I simply don't use it and the firewire port is fully functional.
