Ok, I got the m1330 like 2 days ago. I am having a lot of times with the fingerprint reader, I registered 3 fingers, but whenever I try to use the fingerprint reader for example to unlock the computer or to use its password features it never works. It saids failed. I spoke with Dell online chat, and they wanted to send a technician to replace it. I really do not want anyone opening this system up, especially since I have it for 2 days. Do I have a defective fingerprint reader ? Anyone with any suggestions ?

Are you sure you're swiping your finger properly? Nice and slow and start at your finger's first joint. It was tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it works pretty well.

Nothing wrong with the reader, you're just not doing it correctly. Put your pointer finger over the reader about where the first bend is. Move your finger along while bending slightly, and pressing down gently. Swipe ALL the way to the tip too. Bending the finger slightly is important. If you just move it along horizontally, it'll never work.

Your fingerprint has to squeeze into the V-shaped depression as it slides; it can't just skim along the top.
