Has anyone on this board purchased a new Dell computer and used Dell Financial Services to pay for it? If you have what has been your experience in having to deal with DFS? Good? Bad? If you did use DFS to make your new computer purchase and as you began to make your monthly payments to DFS did you begin to encounter problems with DFS and ended up transferring your balance owed to DFS to another major credit card?

Nobody on this board who has purchased a Dell product through DFS has any comments on their experiences in their dealings with DFS?

Hi Stevoreno. I purchased my Studio 17 through DFS, no problems at all so far. I make my payments through the Internet, but you can use snail mail if you want to. If you want to make your payments through the Internet, wait till you receive your account information through the mail so can you can register at DFS http://www.dellfinancialservices.com/Pages/DFSHomePage.aspx to get setup. It's a very easy process, just as easy as paying a credit card bill online.

i purchased my new studio 1735 from Dell Financial Solutions. You can not transfer it to CC, as I would have hoped.
the deal isn't bad, as I had 6 months interest free. as long as i pay on time (monthly minimum) and pay within the sited criteria (6 months) it is not a bad deal.

Things from customers payments not getting posted to their accounts even though the customer had proof that their check payments cleared their bank to late fees being imposed when payments were made on time and such. I applied for and was approved a DFS account with a $4K credit limit at 12.9% which I'm thinking of using to buy a new laptop.
Once my purchase is made and as soon as DFS starts messing with my account I'll being doing a quick balance transfer with my Amex Card to avoid future headaches with DFS. Dell's Community board eventually pulled the DFS forum, I guess they got tired of all of the Dell consumer complaints against DFS. If you've ever spoken to a DFS account representative have you spoken to someone based in India, in the Philippines(sp?) or here in the USA? -
I'm thinking of ordering through DFS as well. Does anyone know if there is any deception in their deal, like in the past? I read somewhere that the payment rates that they suggest--paying a flat fee for every month without any interest increases--is not true, and that they squeeze more money out of you in other ways. I'm hoping that they have fixed the old issues for DFS, because reading the past reviews make it all seem so sketchy...

When I got my 1530 I went thru Dell DPA w/12 months interest free.
If you don't pay it off w/in the 12 months of interest free..you get *smacked* with the accrued interest. Credit can be good or bad..it depends on how you, the consumer handle it.
I used it, and paid it off w/in a set amount of time, I had given myself.
And, I never had any troubles with Dell DPA, at all!
I always paid on time..and the money was w/drawn from my checking account the date that I set it too!
So, nothing negative about Dell DPA from me ~ at all.

ya thx Cin', i actually already knew about the 48 month plan, I was referring to the 12 month plan payment option exclusive I think to only US residents, that offers 0% interest. For the 48 month one-which includes interest--I've heard so many negative reviews about it, heres a link: http://www.my3cents.com/search.cgi?criteria=dell+financial+services&pcat=COMPUTER I'm still trying to access whether I can trust doing it that way.
I think all of those complaints are about a year old, and I'm not sure whether they have either fixed it, or those complaints were special cases. -

I have DPA, and have never had any problems with it at all! When, I did the 12 months interest free on my 1530 ~ nothing was *hidden*, nothing bad happened!
All went well, that's all I can say. As I said, if you pay on time ~ and are on top of things you really shouldnt have any troubles.
