Anyone purchased or think the Dell Extended Warranty is worth the money? They offered me on my 1525 TWO ADDITIONAL years and a coupon for $75 off (you have 4 months to use it) on an other purchase. I was thinking on getting a wireless printer anyway. The contract cost $179.00. What do you people think ?
    THANKS
    Ralph

The extended warranty is a must for me, its so nice to be able to have a technician come to my home and fit parts for me. Plus you get added extras in the UK e.g. if you have any scratched plastics they replace them free of charge.

Indeed. I purchased the extened warranty and never thought twice about it, I have only had to had it serviced once which was covered in the initial 1 year warranty but free tech support and next day on site service is worth the 179 especially if you are getting 2 extra years at the cost of 180 or 90 a year. if you need to replace one thing in those years odds are its going to cost you more than 90 and thats not to mention labor or if you plan to do it yourself either way if you dont use it peace of mind is always nice. for a little over 7.00 a month its worth it in my opinion. just skip the starbucks once every month and your laptop is coverd for two years.

Common sense tells you that the math will never be in your favor. For every person who benefits from buying additional warranty service, 10 people won't. If you're the 1, then it was a good deal. If not, then you merely funded the other guy's repair. The bottom line will always favor the house. It's just like casino gambling.

The question one must ask themself is not "how much will I gain by having an extended warranty?"...because the odds are you won't gain anything. The real question is, "can I afford the potential loss (whether it be time or money) if I don't get the extended warranty?"

There is no one right answer.

Plus also if you consider say, here in the UK, if we need support or a hardware replacement, if we can't do it ourself, some people (not me) would have to pay close to 40 pounds minimum for a callout, so say in 2 years if you have 4 call outs it soon adds up. Where as if you pay in bulk with Dell at least you are assured that all problems are covered.
