Hey guys, I'm very close to ordering the XPS 1530. My only question is, is it worth getting the 4 Year Consumer XPS Premium Hardware Support for the price of 3 (£150). Is the cover and repair service they provide good and fair?

I'm going to university in October and obviously it would be great to have the warranty cover me for the entire time I'm there!

    FYI these are the specs:
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2-cache)
    Windows Vista® Home Premium
    Memory 2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
    NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT
    250GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive

With 4 year warranty I can get this £706.19 delivered which sounds great to me.

Does it include Complete Cover/ Complete care? If so, then it's an excellent deal...

If you're sure you're going to be using the machine for all four of your college years, then by all means you should get a 4-year warranty, especially if it includes Complete Care. Even if it doesn't I think you should still invest in a 4-year warranty and Complete Care; I think you'll appreciate the peace of mind, especially under heavy use.

Dunno if the "Premium" support actually includes CC though. I can't find the option on the Dell US site.

Well, it looks like its separate in the UK as it is listed as separate options. Would be nice if the XPS premium package actually included the hardware and accidental support in one. Would def be a selling feature for XPS machines.

derviskemal is correct, it does not include accidental damage (It would be another £150!) - I'm already breaking the bank a bit at £700 so cannot push it further.
The cover I get includes repairs and replacement parts, they send a technician round to the house to fix stuff.

For reference, my hard drive went bad with 120 days left on my basic one year warranty, and they have given me excellent service and are letting me install the new hard drive myself and keep the old one long enough to back everything up before I send it to them.
