I ordered my XPS Gen 2 on the 10th and Dell estimates that it will SHIP in September, and will be delivered in mid September.

Are these figures accurate? Is Dell just making conservative estimates?

Dell uses states the worst case scenario. With that said, normally the don't state so far away, so it sounds like they might be short on parts. Did you order anything that would add on to the build date? Even accessories would extend your shipment date.

The only Accessory I had was the Free Printer. Everything else was bare minimum standard, no accessories.

hmm, still seems strange that its going to take that long. You can always check and see where your system is at. If you log into your system, and click on the order number for you computer, it should come up with a list of steps that it has completed.

Hmm. Well it's going on two days now, and it hasn't budged from pre-production.

its not normal for dell to push it back that far...that's why i wonder if something isn't holding it. You can call customer support and see if they will give you any further details. You have a right to know whether or not they have the parts for your system.

yea...and when you ordered...it would say next to the price that it "may delay shipping of XPS gen 2"..somewhere on the page...but that's only if there was a delay from something that u ordered for it

what is the exact date in September? if its in the beginning, then things might be okay. As for the pre-production, if they are waiting on parts or your payment authorization, then that is going to hold up. Like I said earlier, it wouldn't hurt to call Dell and verify that everything is okay. I'm only saying this because when i ordered my system, it was in pre-production for a couple days because my payment was not authorize correctly.

    "Delivery Estimate: Friday, September 09, 2005 - Tuesday, September 13, 2005"

At first, there was a authorization problem with my debit card (I had a limit of $1500). So I called Dell and told them that yesterday morning, but--as of yet--I haven't gotten any notices or billing confirmations (still in pre-production too.

That's really odd... I just ordered my Inspiron 9300 6 days ago and it is scheduled to be at my house today... Of course, it's a different computer, but my estimated date of delivery was supposedly the 28 of August...

Yeah, just make sure to follow up with that. They didn't tell me, and i kept having to call. Once it finally got authorize, then it was in production within 24 hours.
