I messed up. Last Saturday I ordered a laptop for my daughter who is in college using the $250 education coupon. On Tuesday, I called to upgrade the processor. The salesperson said I needed to cancel & reorder. When I did that, they would no longer take the coupon now, either on line or when I called them to reorder by phone. A bunch of BS I know, but I don't run the company and don't make the rules. Would it be possible to use another edu address (say from one of her friends), and then use that coupon? I'm assuming that they would send a different code to that address, which I could then use to get the $250 off. I didn't know if they somehow tie the coupon code, edu address, and student ID number all together, and if they all 3 don't match, they won't process the order, if that makes sense.

i'm pretty sure they link educational coupons to the EPP program, not student accounts or email addresses.

the coupon code will work for any account, as long as its only used once. BTW there are better deals than just the student discount through epp. Purchase the 15% off coupon from ebay (3 dollars) and see A) if it stacks anymore to the student discount (bought mine that way) or B) if it comes out to more than $250 off.

A friend can give their code to your daughter. What I did, was called to cancel and reorder, and I asked if I could use the coupon again. They said no, but the woman just placed the order for me and deducted the coupon's price.

Thanks. Had I been smart, I would have just let the salesperson on the phone who cancelled the original order, reorder for me. Instead I tried doing the reordering on line. Now all I need to do is have one of my daughter's friends give her a coupon, so long as they don't need it themself.
