    Hi Friends

I just had a chat with Dell sales rep and asked her " What documents/proof i have to provide for the membership id ?"

She said if you have the membership id, just enter that during checkout and no documents are required.

But if you google, there are thousands of membership ids floating in internet like coupons. Suppose I'll use a membership id of an university, but I'm not ANYWAY related to that university, still I can buy the laptop with EPP discount.

So, my question is, How Dell will authenticate for a genuine buyer having genuine membership id ? Else anyone can take advantage of EPP just by copy-n-past of the membership id from internet.

from what I see, purchasing using EPP does not actually give you more discount compared to using coupons.

I'd agree, EPP used to have competitive pricing, flat 10% off (for education), the ability to stack coupons, plus additional discounts for the extended warranties. When I got my laptop 4 years ago my 4 year warranty just about paid for itself, between the additional % discount off the laptop and mail in rebate, sadly it seems those days are gone. Now there seems to be no real advantage, if not even more expensive to by the same system from EPP.

I've made numerous configurations where EPP is more expensive than using a coupon. Used to be better, maybe 3 or 4 years ago, but not today.

I actually saved $100 off the base price by extending my warranty to 4 years completecare instead of the basic 1 b/c of coupon stacking and higher % offs as you added more years. best warranty i never paid for.

Thank you all for your inputs.
I know there is almost no benefit through EPP route.
Still, no one has answered my query?
How Dell authenticate/verify the genuine member with a genuine member id ?
