I have a dell e1705 and a month ago half my screen started to go dim on the left half. So I started using an external monitor until my new invertor came. I replaced the invertor fine and booted it up. At first when ever I tried to log onto my name the screen would go black. But if i logged onto a different name it worked fine. But now when windows boots up and when it goes to the log in screen it goes completly black. But I can log onto safe mode and the screen works fine. Also when i replaced invertors i no longer have a dim section. Also there are green lines running verticly on the windows start up menu now but there gone in safe mode. Any help would be great

Hello,
This is Richard from Dell's Online Community Outreach. Where did you acquire the inverter? From what you described it sounds like you have a totally new issue which may be this new invertors fault.
Reply back and I will try to do what I can to assist you.

I got the invertor on ebay and it was listed for a dell e1705, it was working for awhile in normal mode but now it only works safe mode. But before i switched the inverters i couldnt get my screen to display anything.

Hello,
This is an obvious question but did you uninstall the video driver while safe mode. Then try to reboot the computer in normal mode. It would be interesting to see how the computer reacts.

Well i uninstalled the video display driver and started the computer up normally. It booted up fine but screen resolution was very low, i got a message that the systems has recovered from a serious error, after a minute or two in normal mode the screen went black agian. Everytime i try to reinstall the video card in normal mode it blacks out.

It will be very hard to say for sure what is causing this problem, unless you have known good parts to swap out. It is possible that you have a cascade problem affecting the LCD and the that replacement inverter as well. At this point if I was working on this computer, replacing the LCD kit wound be the next step.

Hi jinbody 87! Did you figure out what the issue was? I am having the exact same problem as you and was hoping to see what you found out. Thank you.

Hi, I am also having the same problem. Can someone please link me to where I can buy the inverter? I already searched for it surprisingly can't find it on dell

Save yourself the money and just buy a laptop worthwhile. I have a Toshiba laptop that's pretty old and hasn't given me any trouble. Video card on the dell is dead after 1 year 3 months. 3 months out of warranty. Either way they get you... 400 bucks total for new video card or 400 bucks in advance for extended warranty coverage. Either one I don't have.
Guess I should have done more research before buying a $1500 piece of ****.
