I've been having problems with my Dell 1705 performance while playing games (Civ4, C&C3, Supreme Commander, Oblivion). Basically the game functions normally, and performs well for the first five or ten minutes then abruptly slows down and seems to have graphical problems, as everything seems to start lagging.

I have no programs running in the background and my computer functions well outside of games. Recently I started using HWMonitor to check if it was a heat problem, my processors idle at 72/73 and the GPU idles at 82. Lastly I updated my drivers for my 7900, and while it looks like theres better details in the game, I still have the same problem after a few minutes.

    My system stats:
    Processor: T5300 Core 2 Duo 1.73g
    RAM: 2GB
    Graphics: Ge 7900GS

You should install i8kfan to help control any heat issues.
