I have recently purchased Dell Inspiron E1505 preinstalled with Vista Home Edition. My DVD drive(TSSTCorp TS-L632D) is not getting detected as DVD drive. Instead its shown as CD drive. When i try to burn DVDs from Roxio/Nero, the drive is not getting detected.

Actually, my DVD drive itself is not getting detected few days back. I uninstalled the device as well as ATA Channel 1. After restarting the machine, i am able to see that the drive is recognized as CD drive but not as DVD drive.

I tried installing the chipset drivers given by Dell and the updates available on Dell Website, but nothing could be useful. The problem is drivers for ATA as well as DVD drive are not getting installed for Vista. I tried contacting Dell support, but they advised me to reinstall windows. I could do that as i lose my data :(

    Plzzzzzzzz help me :( :( :(

Someone else on this board had the same problem. I suggest you back up your data and then reinstall windows. I just recieved the 1501 yeterday for my daughter and the wireless is not working. Seems like dell is not testing out the laptops before they send them out
