In comparison to most other laptops, the screen on this machine is really dim. Behind it I have a Dell FPW2405 (which is silly to compare to), but also next to it a sony VGN-A690 laptop (17" model) which is much brighter.

Is this typical of these laptops? Even a friends E1405 and father's E1705 are brighter.

I don't find mine dim at all. I don't know how an LCD can be defective in terms of brightness though.

How about a pic comparing it to the most similar screen you have with max brightness on both and min brightness on both in a dark room?

I can do that in a couple days. I'll set a static exposure, and make sure all three panels are even so you can see the differences.

I don't think its defective, but it is really dim. Even my pocket PC has more brightness to it at half brightness.
