I had my friend over today to fix his XPS1710.
After working on it, I noticed that the keyboards have the same shape and mounting design.
The model number of the XPS1710 keyboard is NSK-D5 D01
part number is 9J.N6782. D01
The model number of the E1505 keyboard I have is NSK-D5 A01
part number is 9J.N6782. A01
They both look like they have the same port which hooks up to the motherboard.
Do you guys think it will work?
I can physically test it, but if it doesn't work, does it screw up the keyboard in any way?
I really like the XPS1710 keyboard over my e1505 one. Its silver and feels better.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I think it will work. The E1505 keyboard works for sure in the E1705 and I think the E1705 and M1710 are similar enough such that the keyboard will be compatible. If a Vostro 1400 keyboard works in an M1330, an M1710 will work in an E1505 XD
At the very least, I'm pretty sure you won't not harm your machine by testing the M1710 keyboard.
EDIT: Yeah, I'm almost 100% sure it will work. There are eBay sellers selling replacement keyboards for "Dell Inspiron 630M 640M E1505 E1705 M140 M1710". -
Cool,
I thought it would work. The part numbers are near identical.
I am going to go to his place tomorrow across campus and see if it works. I hope it does.
