I don't know what the problem is but it seems to happen when CPU usage is at constantly high.
It makes the high pitch beep sound and computer freezes.
It's one of those sounds that warns the user when keys are overloaded during boot up.
When it happens watching AVI file, the sound from AVI file still comes out from the speakers but everyting else is just freezed.(Only happens when multitasking)
It seems to happen when CPU reaches at high temperature. CPU hardware control keeps warn that HARD DRIVE temperature is too high, usually its higher than CPU(I know this is not normal).
I talked with CS over the phone, and he keeps asking me to do all these stupid things when I told him I already did the Diagnostic Tests. I told him it only happens when I use computer for more than 3~5 hours, he tells me to call back when it happens again. I was arguing with him and he tells me he will call back tomorrow but he never did.
I formatted my computer like 5+ times already, because I thought it was program issue.
P.S I have next day in home service(Complete Care Accident Cover).

It is overheating. You need to take compress air and clean out the vents also delete any programs that you are not using that could be using up the cpu in the background -
Cleaning out the vents make sense to me, but deleting programs just don't make any sense to me, I paid over 1g and I can't even fully use it?
BTW I got my E1505 in september, and how often do I have to clean my vents? I only cleaned my 2 yrs+ old Sony VAIO vents twice or something and never overheated. -
If you haven't done this already, make sure you have the latest bios. What video card do you have and what program(s) are running when this happens? Just a thought and I may be wrong but there may be an issue with the cpu or heat pipe.

I have A09 Bios which I believe the lastest version available. I have X1400, and I downloaded the driver from Dell website. It usually happens when I am downloading files from internet, and at the same time I am doing something. Such downloading files at 400KB+/sec and doing photoshop, (Does not happen when using light programs like Word,Excel,, etc) or watching AVI files and at the same time compressing RAR files.
Hope this gives you an idea of what's going on.

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz)
2GB DDR2 - 667MHz
120GB 5200RPM Hard Drive -
What comes to mind is that your drive can't handle the download speed of 400KB+/sec and photoshop at the same time. I would bet that a faster drive with a larger cache if yours is 2MB would fix your problem. A test would be to take your notebook to a friends house with a slower internet and see if it happens again. If it doesn't then you know it's the drive.

Your computer should definitely be able to handle this. Unless you have some sort of rogue program running that is causing the freezing, then it sounds like you have a bad fan or component that needs replacing.
If your hard drive can't handle writing fast enough, then your computer would just slow down and be sluggish, but should not freeze to the point of the mouse not moving or you having to pull the plug to get it back. I mean I have old P3's that can handle all that without locking up.
If you are sure there's no rogue software and you are hearing a beep/noise as a warning. I would definitely tell the Dell Tech this and insist that it's an overheating problem and have them come fix it or replace the entire machine.
One other option. I had a Video Card fan go out on me on a desktop and caused very similar problems. Whenever I'd launch a video or anything that used the video card it would overheat and just lock up. In a laptop, just nearby heat might cause the video chip to get too hot (if it's fan is broken). So if you have the ATI X1400 it may have it's own cooling fan that is not working properly.
I'm close to buying an Inspiron 6400 (same as 1505) - so I'm very interested in hearing what you find out from all this.
Thanks -
I am going to clean the vents and see if it fixes the problem. If it doesn't fix the problem, I am gonna try to call Dell again.
Has anyone received replacement for having such a problems like that? -
Computer should be able to handle this.
Download http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html
and see if the temp is spiraling out of control.
