I would like to know your opinions on the quality of the Dell Inspiron E1505
vs the Thinkpad T60. I would like to do a lot of graphics and web design.

I was interested in the Dell XPS M1210 but 12" screen is too small.

I want to get a notebook that will last.

    Thanks,

    Chris B

Your obvious choice if you want a notebook to last is the thinkpad. I'm not too keen on Dells.

The Thinkpad T60 is miles ahead of the Dell Inspiron E1505, in terms of build quality.

I would recommend the FE. It is the Sony version of the E1505 and it is MUCH BETTER!

it is also sometimes cheaper than a dell...

the build quality, screen, style, price is amazing. SONY IS A BRAND NAME!

Dell stinks period...and dont get thinkpad..its own by lenovo made in china..

    sony = MADE IN USA

This is a not an apples to apples comparison with these two models. These are two entirely different laptops each with a different role and target set.

The E1505 is a main steam multmedia laptop targeted at the average user that needs to watch the wallet. It comes has a 15.4 widescreen only which can be equipt with a glossy coating which produces sharper images and better color at the cost of glare on the screen in hard light conditions, it also has a media card reader, and a firewire port. The screen comes with a few different resolution WXGA, WXGA+, WSXGA+, and WUXGA+.

The T60 is a higher end business model. Its much better built than the E1505, but is also costs alot more, (ever with a employee or student discount). The keyboard on Thinkpads is second to none. However this is not a multimedia laptop. It has no memory card reader and no firewire port. The T60 is available with both 15.4 widescreen, a standard 15.4, and a standard 14.1. Each screen is available in a higher SXGA+ resolution. These screens are all matte which means there is no glare on the screen.

Both can be equipt with graphics cards.

Between these two if you can afford it, you should consider the Thinkpad. This a thinner and ligher making it easier to carry, and better for traveling. What makes it good for a business man will make it good for a student too. The build quality will assure it will last. Otherwise if you just want a laptop for typical home use and even a little portability and durability for traveling between school and home get the Inspiron.

If you want to look at a real alternative to the E1505 check out the HP dv6000t.

GO THINKPAD T60 over the E1505, FE, etc.
It's the best choice, especially if u're a business user.

Thinkpads are made by Lenovo now, and many ppl had doubts about Lenovo, but it turns out that Lenovo kept the same great mechanism that IBM had, AND at the same time, more features were added to newer models.

IBM = original makers of Thinkpads
LEnovo = bought Thknpad from IBM and significantly enhanced the features.
remember the days when IBM offered thinkpads w/ high prices and lower specs? now it's high specs and lower prices. lenovo also made the thinkpads widescreen.

doesn't matter where the comp is made.
