Hey all, i'd like to think im pretty good with computers, but when it comes to troubleshooting problems, i'm not so strong.
Problem 1
When i load an external drive (usb key, external hard drive, etc) my computer is not recognizing it, and gives me an error message saying "Windows could not load the installer for Volume. Please contact hardware vendor for assistance". Ive noticed that sometimes the computer recognizes the drive, but usually only for usb keys, not external hard drives.
Problem 2
When i start up my computer i will get the same message as above, but i will also get a message about a problem with the SCSIAdapter.
I'm not sure if the two problems are related, but i would really like to fix this, because i am thinking about getting an external hard drive to back up some of my files.
any help would be great, thanks alot guys

is the hard drive in your computer a SATA one?
-
Do you know how i would figure that out?
all i know is that the hard drive is a Hitachi HTS721080G9SA00 according to the local disk C) properties.
hopefully this helps -
Yep that is a SATA drive.

So that sorta makes sense to me.
Have you run error checking on the C: drive yet?
My Computer
Properties on C:
Tools tab
Check marks in both disk options
click Ok
and reboot
If you haven't done that yet start there.
