As above, I need to know how good they are. Nobody seems to talk about the sound quality of this notebook. And I couldnot find any reviews on this site for 640m or E1405 at all. Why is that ? New model ?

What about the Audigy sound option for this model ?
I've read that the Audigy option is only software / CD ?
    What does this mean ?

I suspect the speaker quality is at best mediocre ?
Seems nobody, or not even Dell talks at all about it.

Actually sound is also one of my most important feature, since I will use it a lot to listen to music while on the road.

Buy some nice headphones then. Laptop speakers will always sound tinny.

Fairplay, but this soundsystem isn't bad. The E1405 literally replaced the XPS M140 a little over a week ago on the dell site, so this has most of the same features with a few bonuses. My friend just got the M140 before it was discontinued and his speakers actually blew me away for a notebook, though there is a noticeable lack of bass which you get with any brand. As I said, this replaced the M140 so if you are dying for a review, you should probably check out what they said about this since they do go over the speakers, etc.
    cheers!

I was amazed at the sound quality on my E1405. I've been listening to a lot of music off of it and it sounded damn good, clear, crisp, whatever you wanna say.
