Pricing is plain terrible, needs some coupons otherwise just about everything beats it in the netbook market
-
There must be some gears that need replacing at Dell. They have been a bit on the slow side as of late.
Many of the major retailers have already released their netbooks months ago and at better prices to boot. Many have already released notebooks with Montevina/Centrino 2 options. Dell just seems to be lagging behind a bit. -
4GB base hd? What'd they do? Stash a nano in there?
-
Yes, the pricing on the dells netbooks Fails!
-
The pricing fails because it is based on the Intel 950GMA platform.

Shall i be the first one to start a slew of replys:
if you wait till until 6am tomorrow: and buy a Studio 15, XPS M1530 or XPS M1330.
the inspiron Mini becomes $99
ends september 9th so i would assume you need to jump on this asap. what makes me mad is that they still havent refreshed the m1330's. if they had, i would be doing this deal.
oh how much i love to xcite people with deals....(courtesy of engadget btw) -
Hey, does anyone know if it has a built in mic for recording lectures?

Pricing seems ok to me (at least here). It's a little bit cheaper than Asus 901, while the Dell comes with 16GB SSD and the Asus only 12GB.
-
It seems the Acer Aspire beats this by far. At $349 you get 1GB RAM, 120 GB hard drive, and Windows XP. Kind of a disappointment as I have waited all summer for this product.
-
Am I the only person who thinks the pricing seems pretty strong? Not mind blowingly cheap, but very solid compared with anything, aside from maybe that Acer Aspire atbnet just mentioned.
Is it possible to boot off a USB CD drive with these things? I'm just wondering how easy it would be to install another OS (or your own-legal-copy of XP that's not being used for anything anymore) or just to reinstall the OS when needed.
These things almost seem tempting as a PDA replacement, except they're really not portable enough for that, yet too small to type on well. But sort of a half PDA replacement, and it could manage all my podcasts through iTunes... -
^^^^No your not, it's the pricing and several other factors....XP, etc...
Waited soo long.

For another 150 bucks or so you could buy a base 1525, arguably superior in every way except size. Just goes to show where the premiums are placed in the laptop world. I think that the net books are basically too limited at the moment to take money out of my pocket! Maybe if it came with a car charger and free satellite based wireless broadband . . .
-
That's an issue I've always had with these "Netbooks". I'm not really sure what they're for. A real notebook that can do SOOOO much more and is easier to type on is roughly the same pricek, while a PDA or equivalent is also roughly the same price, can do about the same stuff as a netbook, only is way, way more portable.
