I just went to go check Dell's website to see their latest deals and then realized that all their processors are no longer the T2300. It is now the T2050. The speed and fsb has been dropped and their are actually charging us more now. What a gip.

wtf? I didn't even know the t2050 existed...Anyone know if there're any benefits to it (lower power consumption, etc)?

well, seems like the upgrade to the 1.83GHz processor is cheaper.

    WHAT

I shoulda pushed the button ten minutes ago

    I didn't want a faster processor! I wanted slightly better battery life!! But ... I don't want 533 fsb ... **** you dell!!!

edit: Yay, I can still get my T2300E! I looked up the difference-- and it seems the T2300E takes half the power of the T2400, 2500, etc. 15W vs 31W! That's why I'm going for the "slowest" one ... http://www.laptoplogic.com/news/detail.php?id=949?www.dailytech.com

i was wondering about the new t2050, t2250 and t1050...
the only differences i have been able to uncover so far, is that they have a reduced fsb.
did intel decide to downclock the fsb because the vast majority of ram sold is at 533mhz anyways?
i assume the t2050 costs less than the t2300, so for the vast majority, this should be to our benefit since it reduces the cost of the cpu, with no ill effect (unless you were planning to buy 677mhz anyways).

ps. i'm not sure about this, but does this also improve battery life?

cpu prices rise and fall, just like the deals change all the time, in the long run the overall change will be pretty much insignificant

nope, that was a mistake. consumes the same amount of power as other processors...

Now took a look at the update to that article: http://www.laptoplogic.com/news/detail.php?id=963

LaptopLogic should just take that article down already...
