Be advised that the Dell Draft N Internal Wireless is not compatiable with the Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router (Part #: F5D8230-4).

The Dell Draft N Internal Wireless will be able to see your wireless network, but will be unable to communicate it.

After spending considerable time on the phone with Dell technical support they finally admitted that the Dell Draft N Internal Wireless will only work with D-Link and Linksys N routers. This was a known issue to them.

The good news is that will be an easy problem to fix.

    Brian,

According to Dell there was no fix. Their answer to the issue was for me to go out and buy a new router.

I'm sure just some type of driver update should fix this problem... They should be working on that. I personally have a Belkin Pre-N Router and several of my friends do.

It uses the standard of Intensi-Fi from Broadcom, you *have* to check your router uses that pre-N standard. There are no driver updates that can fix this. Several mfrs. do make this Intensi-Fi compatible router.

    NetGear
    Broadcom
    D-Link
    Linksys

and probably others -- just look for "Intensi-Fi" on the box.

Sucks that Dell wasn't more explicit with this when purchasing. It was included in their press release though http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3057

At least Dell sent me a replacement a/b/g card for free. I don't get the same speeds I would with an N card, but it is better than having to use my old B router.
