Does anyone know where I can download it? I check the "Drivers and Downloads" section on Dell's support site but couldn't find it.
-
I'm guessing that you won't be able to...its "only for the Studio laptops."
-
-
What do you mean "dell dock"? are you referring to the docking station?
-

very similar -
Okay, thanks. I think the Dell Dock might even be based on objectdock
-
Ya, I think so too.
I used to have ObjectDock on my computer a while ago. And when I saw this new Dell Dock, it looked absolutely identical to it. I think it's the same thing. -
Oh neat, i didnt know dell had that.
-
I just tried it out, it's really cool and looks good and doesn't need a lot of resources (5-8mb of ram).
-
Yeah, OD is pretty popular(other popular one are RocketDock). If you install OB or RD, make sure you get 'stack Docklet' so you can have this(notice the expanding folder)

Here is a link to it("install" instruction are pretty easy-same instruction for OD).

Thanks for tip, looks good!

I'm guessing that the dock will be available for all lines soon. She doesn't seem to have any problems using it on an XPS.

The Dell one looks like it is its own version, or it uses the Plus version of object dock ($19.95). Supports tabs? Either way, I'd rather get the one on the Studio for my XPS. Wouldnt want any studio owners to laugh at my XPS saying its a Studio wannabe.
-
why, would any studio owners be laughing at u? u have 8600m gt, intel wireless and complete care warantee which means no annoying outsourcing.
-
Yep-It's official, Stardock developed Dell Dock.

2nd Best only to illuminated backlit keyboard for my M1530.
-
The XPS M1530 doesn't have a backlit keyboard, only the Studio 17s and 15s have backlit keyboards (currently)...
Does anyone know how to bypass the Dell check upon starting Dell Dock? I have an XPS that it installs and runs on just fine, but I would like to use this dock also on my desktop, which I built myself :X -
is the dell dock worth downloading?
-
I downloaded it, but it wont let me add things to the dock...all it says to do is drag it on to it, but it wont let me
-
you have to restart your computer.. mine wouldn't let me until i restarted
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
-
well mine would allow me to add stuff into my dock so i restarted my comp and it started to let me.
-
I downloaded the Dell Dock and played with it a little and here are my observations:
- It's made by Stardock
- It works fine on my Latitude D630
- It lacks some of the features in ObjectDock Free (it has fewer positioning options, for example), but it also has some stuff that OD Free doesn't have out of the box, such as categories. Also, the menus/config tool looks nicer than OD Free, but there are fewer options to play with.
- The zoom when you hover over an icon is a bit different from the zoom in OD Free.
- I guess it's not really the same as either OD Free or OD Plus, but a feature set customized for Dell.
- It seems like a pretty cool thing for Dell to include out-of-the-box on a new computer. -
If Dell Dock has the functions that OD Free has, it will just be the perfect dock...however, as now it doesn't have some of the functions that OD has, I uninstalled the Dell Dock.
(C'mon, I like to have the dock at the bottom, I want to see the time and weather...) -
-
I just bought a Dell Studio and it's not installed on it
-
thts a bad thing lol :O
-
Is there a way to get this to run on my M1530 with Windows XP?

You can install the Dell Dock on any Dell laptop with Vista, I've installed it on many different Dell Notebooks.
I went back to Rocketdock because it's leaner, doesn't crash or use as much resource as Dell/Object dock.
Objectdock is obviously prettier and got more options but I prefer just a simple and stable launchbar. -
-
(It just using it more, that I need to do) LOL
Cin -
You can download a newer version at delldock.com.
-
However, I believe it will only install on a dell system but I am not 100% sure.
I installed it on both vista64 and windows7 64. It works perfectly on both systems. -
Yes Dell Dock is by StarDock
-
To confirm:
Dell Dock was created by the same people who created Object Dock. Dell commissioned them to write this piece of software for them.
Dell Dock has an increased level of functionality over the free version of Object Dock. It does however have slightly less functionality than the paid for version of Object Dock.
You can download Dell Dock on any computer, but without tweaking, it will only actually install on a Dell computer.
Regards -
Everytime I get a new Dell, I disable the Dell Dock. To me it is so annoying. I just like a clutter free desktop.
Dell Dock download?
