I am so utterly ticked-off, I can hardly contain myself. I ordered a Dell laptop for a holiday gift for my little girl...I ordered BEFORE the mad holiday rush, and BEFORE black Friday. It has been delayed 4 times...I have emailed Dell 3 times...each time only getting an automatic response. I have called them 6 times, and was transferred thru the same department customer care center 11 times. Never leaving the same department - just going around in circles. It got to the point I actually had to laugh out loud...so obvious. They could have at least transferred me to different departments.

I have to say, this is by FAR the worst customer service experience I have ever had!! - bottom line. They could give a X#@(. They don’t try to help you replace your product with something else they may be ready to ship - or at least ship earlier. They don’t tell you why your order is delayed. They don't even want to talk to you.

You know; if one looks thru history. Looks at how many companies have gone under because of severe poor customer service - or because of promoting an item, and not being prepared for delivery promises...or even posting 'guaranteed' shipment dates, then not following thru...one would see Dell is going to have some serious issues.

I wish I had the power to single handedly force them to talk to their customers - to force them to have to deal with the issue - to show them, they cannot, nor should not be allowed to 'BS' the world.

Is anyone else having this 2008 issue?? - is there anything we can do?

    Buy another brand.

Dell has nothing but out-dated hardware anyway. Nothing in Dell's current line up can't be match or better by the competitors.

I haven't had issues that bad, but my order has already been delayed and will arrive after Christmas which is of no use to me. I wish I had found this forum before I ordered, or I never would have. The service is truly horrendous.

This is very sad indeed. If I was in your position I would cancel my order and go for something else. I love my M1530 but for a new laptop in Dec 2008, it is kind of getting old. Asus, Sony, Lenovo, HP heck even Macs are all updated. Show Dell what they are doing is BS and cancel your order.

I see you also posted on ZDNET U.K.

 I don't blame you for being upset especially since it's the Christmas holiday. We all hate to disappoint our kids.
Dell should give you a good reason and a good estimate of their delivery time.
Maybe you can call and get a different customer service tech. Be Sure to to keep track of their name and or badge numbers, date and time of calls for your records.
If they don't come around with the answers you want then cancel the order and get a different brand.
I don't mean to sound like a DELL flag waver but I sit here now with three Dells. Maybe I've just been lucky but they have always done right by me.
    Good luck.

Ordered a Studio 1737 on 11/24 with an estimated ship date of 12/5. Delayed on 12/5, and again on 12/12, at which time I gave consent to continue the order; they canceled on 12/15 anyway. They did send me the famed Bluetooth 370 module though. Yay.

Despite ordering it over a month ahead of time, it would not have come before Christmas even if they hadn't canceled it.

After seven emails to the returns department, I finally got them to stop deflecting and refund me for the useless, computer-less bluetooth transceiver. They only gave in when I said I was going to contact the BBB, which I still intend to do, and a higher level of customer service at Dell, which I already have done but am still awaiting a response from. We'll see what comes of that. It's confusing to me; don't most companies like to make sales this time of year, rather than screwing up countless orders?

Anyway, I would recommend canceling the order. You have other options, and shouldn't be locked into this one if Dell isn't meeting its end of the obligation. Dell's offerings are a few steps behind the rest of the market right now, anyway. We could all do a lot better.
