Is it just me, or has every decent Dell deal disappeared? Every stacking possibility has vanished, and even the coupons can't be stacked with any instant savings anymore...what happened to the deals we're used to? The configuration I was putting together not even 2 weeks ago is now more than $150 more expensive! If I do find anything worthwhile, it disappears off the site within 6 hours.

What? I just customized a full blown 1721 on the site, used the new $300 coupon and brought it down to like $986.00 shipped...

Not a single deal can be stacked, even if the coupon details say they should be able to. All the coupons do is replace the instant savings, where before they'd add to them. The $200 EPP coupons that were so valuable a month ago aren't worth a thing anymore, since they're just outdone by the instant savings or the bigger coupons.

What are you talking about dude? Lol..build a laptop, OVER $1199..then use the coupon code and it stacks with everything at the end. Remember it has to be 1199 in the LAPTOP, no accessories and whatnot and it has to be before tax.

They are definitely cracking down...probably lost too much money to stackable coupons, etc ....I guess maybe they are finally becoming savvy ?

Do you know how many times I've done this, shopping for the best deal? I'm configuring a 1720 with no extra accessories, just upgraded system components. The unit price of the configuration is $1,613 - $289 instant savings = $1,324. If I try using the $300 coupon, all it does is replace the $289 instant savings to give me an additional $11 off. Very anticlimactic if you ask me. Final price of $1,313, where my old price was very near $1,200.

just added the 2 new batteries to it, brought the total to under 1500, and the coupon brought it down to 1153. Works for me man.

    Edit:

wait..what is this 289 instans savings you keep on talking about? I'm not seeing that here, just build it normal, and enter the coupon.

Umm yea, your $1,374 configuration with the $300 coupon is going to be $1,000-something (closer to $1,100 @ $1,074, but whatever). That's your only savings! It didn't stack with an instant savings of $70, or $254, or $294, which are the initial instant savings. These disappear with the use of the $300 coupon. Try configuring a system with a base price of over $1,600 and see what you come up with. I guarantee the coupon doesn't stack with those instant savings.

WHY do people always respond to posts like the poster is an idiot, and then end up coming back with "wait, what is this....?" If you don't know what the poster is talking about, don't act like you do until you've got it figured out! Just maybe, you don't know exactly what you're talking about.

When you configure a system, there are initial starting configurations that give you instant savings. These are not coupons, but an initial savings that they subtract from your base unit price. In the past month, they've cracked down on stacking the COUPONS with these INSTANT SAVINGS. Before, you could combine them, now you can't. That is what I'm talking about.

Does anybody else have an opinion, or offer any suggestions at stackable coupons and better prices? What have you recently done?

The stacking deals certainly are disappearing. Consider the most recent EPP stacks. Every single order in the thread below using a number of stack configurations has been canceled as of yesterday.
    http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=74&threadid=746730&start=200

Dell does cover itself with the terms, but this must be disheartening to new coupon sharks and is the reason why I keep duplicate orders under different deals until I know my order will not be canceled.

edit: Heck, this thread seems to be related to the above.

LOL I've got better things to do than deal with irritating people like yourself. If you want to contribute to the thread, fine, but don't go making enemies. You think I'm an idiot because I can't get $600 in savings? Less than a month ago people were getting $950+ in savings! All by stacking the correct coupons, but obviously you have no insight about things like that. Believe me, they've DONE it, ask anybody on the forum. You just have to know where to look.

getting $950 in savings? you mean..taking ADVANTAGE of a company and then make a thread about how bad the customer service is? Everyone here who got more then the alotted coupon and instant savings was scamming and taking advantage of dell for no reason whatsoever. $950 in savings is ridiculous. The laptops are worth what they are originally priced at. Consider the $300 and call it a day.

LOL I like the backtracking. All of a sudden my idiotic suggestions that are NOT offered are now simply "taking advantage of a company" - with THEIR coupons no less. I love it. No fraudulent behavior, no scamming - just using Dell's own coupons on Dell's own home site is "taking advantage of a company." And you still refuse to admit you're wrong, everyone ELSE is just idiots for wanting the best deal possible.

Edit: Since when have I posted about the bad customer service? I've actually encountered fairly enjoyable reps when I've called in. It encourages me to continue my business with the company.

Lol, looks like Dell got ripped off by a lot of people. $950 off....ouch. Looks like you already answered your question though...Dell got smart and started double checking the invoices. People getting $1100 laptops for $150...someone is eventually going to catch on. I give a lot of credit to the coupon stackers for taking advantage :D

Stacking coupons you know in the back of your mind should not logically stack is taking advantage of a loophole. Buying a laptop under one of your buddies .edu's and getting a discount, is taking advantage of the company. Shipping to a taxless state, to save a few pennies, is as cheap as they come. I feel sorry for the rest of their lives.

Haha no, you had to spend money to save money. It was on notebooks priced at least over $2,000. Typically, it was original prices of $2,400ish getting discounted down to $1,500ish.

Getting an $1,100 laptop for $150 is my next objective! :)

The world is harsh, I agree. You're good, you should be the representative for homeless people somewhere. :)

I am currently a senior, about to graduate with a Mechanical Engineering degree, so I've got that educational discount. I also work for a very large corporation that provides the EPP discounts seen throughout this thread. I subscribe to all of Dell's publications and receive the same public coupons everybody else does. This thread is about coupons and how they stack, not shipping packages to taxless states, which I've never done (or thought of doing) in my lifetime.

So let me get it right..you have..An EPP, a student discount, AND their coupon? or am I mistaken..cause if you have that much, you should just take it and run.

NOW you're getting it! And BEFORE, those discounts all stacked. Not as a scam, but perfectly legal. The sales guys would do it for me over the phone and still throw in an extra $100. NOW they put an end to it. NOW only one discount works at a time, you can't combine a single offer, whether it is instant savings, a coupon, an EPP, whatever.

ok with this new 300 dollar coupon out what is the best deal now? I tried the 300 dollar coupon with University EPP and it didn't work. So that probably means it wont stack with the EPP savings which sucks. So does anyone have a better deal as of now?

ok ok, the way you made it seem was like "i got this much off, and i cant include a 300 dollar coupon it just replaces it" I think student discounts should stack because everyone is aware that MOSTTTTT** students are broke..or are just making it paying off loans and such. Don't know, I didn't get a $300, $350 OR an EPP/student..so all I got was the ram and the hd.

Those EPP and student coupons say right in their details that they don't combine with other COUPONS but they will combine with other offers and current promotions, which makes sense. What's the point of having a student discount or EPP if they don't give you any additional savings? That's what I'm getting at...
