Dell D820 and desktop D-Link DWL520+ wireless connection

Good morning,
I'm trying to set up a connection between my desktop pc and my laptop so I can surf the web in bed. Yep, I want to be lazy.

I don't have a wireless router so I tried to make a pc to pc connection, but for some reason, it won't work.

It worked for about 2minutes last night and then I had to change my router's ip in order to share the internet connection over the wireless connection. After changing my router's ip, the wireless connection between the two pcs wouldn't work anymore.

I can see the connection from my laptop, but when I try to connect, it does nothing.

I spent way too much time working on this last night and I'm sure some of you have figured this out already. I tried to search the web, but what I found didn't help me out much. I do everything they say, it works for them, it doesn't work for me.

Can someone please help?

hum.. I just noticed there's a networking and wireless section.

Maybe a mod can move this there?
