My Dell D630 keeps randomly freezing. Sometimes when i am transfering files, sometimes when i am watching movies, sometimes when i am gaming, and sometimes

even when i leave the computer idling. CPU usage is not high. Condition is that the picture remains on the screen but the computer does not respond to

mouse movements or ctrl alt delete. Seems like i am not the only one experiencing these issues either as a quick google came up with this:

Running latest Bios A09, Vista clean install no excessive software.

Just like the others my experience is fixed upon hard re-boot.

Please offer any help, this problem is getting me worried.

If anyone is experiencing the same thing please chime in.

Does the HDD make any noise when frozen?
Do you have a blue screen when freeze?

No noise from HDD, fan is still running, no BSOD.

I am starting to think that this imay be a hardware problem, on my Dad's D630 he is occassionally getting identical system freezing as well and he is on XP.

Removing the EISA partition with a clean install seems to have fixed the problem...don't know why tho.

I have had a few random lock ups where it doesnt respond but nothing stupid. Now when i was running XP Pro that the notebook shipped with, it was BSODing for fun and even after a recovery. Same screen every time, which indicated a HDD problem. But here i am running Vista fine without BSOD mainia!
