    Hi,
I seem to be having a reoccuring problem with the Dell Wireless 5505 Vodafone Mobile Broadband 3G HSDPA MiniCard. 15-20% of our stock have now failed and Dell have had to send out replacements.
All worked to begin with, but have failed within six months. This problem seems to exist only with the D420 model and not the D620 for example.

Has anyone else noticed a pattern or had problems with these? We may have a faulty batch..

    Many thanks,

    Pedrom

pedrom, were you still having problems with the DW5505 3G cards for your D420s? I did some checking, and could not find anything about a problem with the cards, so I'm thinking you just got extraordinarily "lucky". What exactly was the failure you received with the cards?

    Thanks for the reply.
Hardware failure. Although the card can be seen in device mngr, the 3G functionality no longer works (Simms checked etc). Replacement cards work first time.
    Baffled at the failure rate.

I'm not sure why they are failing like that either, but I'm glad to hear the replacements are fixing the problem right away.

I did some checking, but could not find anything about a bad batch of cards. I have passed on the information about the failures you have seen, however, so the appropriate group here at Dell is aware of it now, if they weren't already (there are reports done on what parts are getting replaced to try and identify, and fix, hardware problems that are not just the normal failure rate).
