I called the automated line to check on the status on my 1521 I ordered on 9/15. The automated system says that I am in the boxing stage, which I thought was great. However, I called to speak with a live person because online it says in production. The agent from india says that he is showing the item in production as well. I asked him why then on the automated system it says boxing stage, of course he did not have a answer for this hard question. But he says he will put in a request for the order to expideited. But he would not answer my question. Is this normal!!!!!!!!

I understand for a huge company like Dell they have alot of demand but damn get your facts striaght.

It's only been 4 days. For something as high-tech as a laptop you better hope they spend a week or so making sure it works. Getting a laptop day 2 after you ordered it doesn't mean anything if it's glitchy/doesn't work.

Online will ALWAYS say "production" until it is shipped... go by what the 1-800 number says.
Remember ..... boxing can last up to 5 days
    Good Luck!

I'm so glad I didn't know about that number and just thought it was "In Production" up until it shipped, I would have driven myself crazy calling that hotline every 10 minutes.

The 1-800 number will change as your status changes, I went through kitting, testing and boxing all in one day. The only thing that does not change is the order status on Dell's web site....

I wasted sooooo much time calling the order status number. : )

Yeah, I have the order number from my current Dell. My order shipped December 7 2003 but the system still says that it is "in transit to the carrier." LOL
